Expedition Reef Bound took us north through the Great Barrier Reef to assist with research being conducted by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority in the waters off Townsville. Whales were seen on a daily basis heading north along with dolphins, turtles and manta rays. The sailing on "Spirit of Sydney" in the trade winds was excellent and the opportunity to stop at coral cays and island anchorages was taken every evening. Spirit was loaded with gear including an air compressor for diving, a large inflatable dinghy on the davits and wave ski which allowed us to easily explore the area. It was a great opportunity to discover a beautiful part of our coast.
