EXPEDITIONER PROFILES
The following adventurers will be undertaking the upcoming around the world expedition.
DAVID PRYCE of Sydney
David is a Naval Architect and will skipper the expedition around the world. He has undertaken five Antarctic expeditions with Ocean Frontiers and also competed in the BT Global Challenge (Syd-Cape Town leg), Melbourne Osaka Double Handed Race, Hogs Breath 1000 Ctamaran Challenge, Double Handed Trans Tasman Challenge and Solo Trans Tasman Yacht Race in an Adams 10. He has overseen the construction of the McIntyre 55 from its conception and is very excited about sailing around the world. "This expedition is going to be a great challenge and above all, lots of fun.
IAN PATON of
Sydney
Ian is a graphic artist with an extensive sailing career. He was a member of Expedition
Ice Bound 1998 which installed Jim & Yvonne Claypole in Gadget Hut for their year in
Antarctica. Ian has also sailed on "Spirit of Sydney" in last years Telstra
Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and Expedition Reef Bound 1999. Ian can be seen
here trying out SOLAS survival suits on the south coast of Tasmania, before heading
to Antarctica.
MURRAY CAREY of Wanganui
Murray is a Chartered Accountant in New Zealand who has grown up with the sea for most
of his life. He has a great deal of sailing experience and holds his Yachtmanster Ocean
certification. His objective has always been to sail around the world and now hes
finally going to do it. Murray has read "almost every book on sailing around the
world, from Chichester and David Lewis to Kay Cottee". As well as sailing,
Murray is involved in fishing, diving, tramping, skiing, snowboarding and surfing.
RODNEY HARRIS of Sydney
Rodney works in the building management industry and splits his time between Sydney and
New York. He regularly sends us photos such as this of his sailing trips to tempt
us. His interest in sailing developed when he heard about the Vendee Globe race and since
then he has been reading books on the great around the world voyages. Rodney is also
involved in rockclimbing, skiing,running and cycling.
EXPEDITIONER
X of Sydney
Expeditioner X works in the banking industry and has yet to break the news to his employer
(hence the anonymity). He is currently racing two handed and will be the one sailing in
disguise. In addition to his sailing he is also a qualified diver and regular cyclist and
swimmer.
GREG CUDDEN of Sydney
Greg has sailed many miles with us as far north as the Whitsundays and as far south as
Hobart onboard the "Spirit of Sydney". He has also sailed to Lord Howe Island
and is drawn by the adventure of sailing around the world. Greg is currently sharpening
his culinary skills for this around the world expedition. Picture here with the
