Hi Everyone,
"Sir Hubert Wilkins" has just returned to Hobart from a five month Philippine diving expedition. We were chasing a sunken Spanish Galleon..managed to find some old roofing iron, but that's the way it goes! We are heading in December 2002 for our last diving expedition to the Antarectic. Daily updates will be available on this site.
Gadget Hut is now back in Tasmania and the site occupied by Expedition Ice-Bound for seven years is now totally cleared and transformed to wilderness once again. As we were positioned on rock, we had virtually no impacts and you cannot tell the hut has ever been there.
Ian Godfrey, the AAP Mawsons Huts Representative was happy with his effort. Simon Nasht filmed some awesome footage for his Hurley documentary. We managed to remove some more rubbish, ground proof satellite imagery and tried to locate Aurora's lost anchors.

A Barrier Reef Expedition had been planned for winter with WWF but unfortunately lack of support over the recent months suggested a substantial number of extra sponsors would be required. This proved too challenging so "Reef-Rescue" was cancelled.
The Sir Hubert Wilkins project has involved Margie and I and Dick Smith through Dick Smith Foods for nearly three years. It has certainly been an exciting time with many challenges to overcome. "Huey" is a big part of many peoples lives and so many have volunteered their time and money and faced their own adventures onboard. None of the four major voyages could have happened without this involvement of a very special team.
Dick Smith Foods have been amazing supporters from day one and have weathered many storms with Margie and I to keep the project alive. Our many other supporters including Yamaha, Musto, Raytheon, and the numerous contracting workers on Huey all understood our objectives.
Those who sail on "Huey" say it is the greatest experience of their lives, so too it has been for Margie and I. As with all our previous adventures, it has consumed all our energies and emotions.
In 1995 when building Gadget Hut at Cape Denison, I never imagined that it would be removed in 2002 with our own helicopter equipped ship, but that is now history and the end of an era.

"Huey" is being put up For Sale and will be sold by the end of June. Margie and I will be busy coordinating this and will then move onto other projects.
To everyone who has supported us and "Huey" over the past years, a BIG Thank You!, especially to Dick Smith Foods and all our Crew.
It was a Grand Adventure......!
Kind Regards
Don & Margie
